Monday (6:00pm) - Volleyball Practice is back. Practice is held at the Donegal Community Center for any youth in 7th grade through 12th grade during the winter months. Volleyball is held with Kregar Community Church's youth group. Each evening begins with prayer and a short devotional from one of the leaders. Tuesday (6:00) - Prayer Shawl Ministry - meeting at Davistown UM Church. All are welcome to attend. Prayer Shawls are delivered to those undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss; during recovery and other needs. If there is someone you would like to suggest to receive a Prayer Shawl, please complete the form located on the table at the Sanctuary entrance and give to the pastor or contact the pastor at (455-2575).
Wednesday (7:00pm) - SEE YOU IN THE FALL KID'S NIGHT! Kids Night Progam is held at the Calvary Church for all children and youth through 12th grade. Feel free to make a donation or volunteer to help. Any questions, please contact Children's Ministry Coordinator, Lori Ritenour at 724-455-7972. Kid's Night ! Each Wednesday evening (at Calvary UM Church) we offer the children from our churches and community an opportunity to learn about God and His steps to living a Christian life. But, we need your support: ...financially ... volunteering ... and prayers. This local mission is an opportunity to put your faith in action and know that the next generation will be prepared to carry on the work of the Gospel. ALSO, on Wednesday evenings Mary Diehl is having a class at church "Dealing with Life's Problems". When dropping your children off for Kid's Night feel free to stay for this class to talk about what is happening in the world today.
Thursday (7:30pm) - Bible Study at Calvary UM Church. Judy Kalp will be leading the Bible Study this week. All are invited to attend.
"Little Rays of Sunshine" Project - Ryan and Chrissy Keller are coordinating this project for the Helping Hands program through the Parent Resource Network (PRN). PRN is a support system set up to help parents who have children in the IC Unit's throughout the Pittsburgh area. The "Little Rays of Sunshine" toiletry bags are going to be handed out to the parents who end up with an unexpected overnight stay at the hospitals. Items that are needed include travel size bottles of Body Wash/Soap, Shampoo/Conditioner, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Lotion, Tissues, Disposable Razors, Combs, Hair Scrunchies, Toothbrushes. There is a container at the back of the church for donated items. This is going to be an ongoing project therefore you can donate as you are able or feel lead.
August 28th (Saturday 4:00 - 7:00) - Annual Peach Festival
August 29th (Sunday - 4:oopm) - Bishop Bickerton invites all United Methodists to join him at 4:00pm Sunday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (2323 Old Butler Road, New Castle, PA) for celebrating the full-communion between the United Methodist Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Bishop Ralph Jones of the ELCA will preach and Bishop Bickerton will assist with communion.
September 5th & September 12th - "Love & Respect" series will continue with Dr. Emerson Eggerichs' teaching discs #3 (Major Decisions, Relationship, A Man's Intimacy") & #4 (Practical Ways to Love). This series focuses upon learning how to better communicate with your spouse and is a very good tool for those planning marriage.
October 30th (Saturday - 8:00am-8:00pm) - UMC Lab School: "Teach to Learn - Learn to Teach." A Christian Education program for teachers seeking to improve teaching skills while also focusing upon new teachers. Held at Oakland UMC, Johnstown, PA. Cost is $40.00 which includes resource materials and meals. Contact the pastor (455-2575) if interested.
Western PA Conference Announcement - Flood buckets are urgently needed for the Midwest States. Paradise United Methodist Church is a drop-off point. Money can be sent to the Domestic Disaster Response, UMCOR Advance #901670 (designate for "Mid-West Flooding Relief)
